KIPHIRE — Due to heavy rainfall, two major landslides occurred on the road connecting Pungro and Mimi, near Lophukhong village, on the night of August 11. The road serves as the sole link to the border villages of Mimi, Kaha, Betang, and Hakkumate.

Consequently, troops from the Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles, based at Mimi COB, promptly arrived with an earthmover. The landslides had accumulated a large volume of debris, including boulders, mud, and uprooted trees, which had completely blocked the road.

The operator worked to clear the debris, while the troops focused on removing smaller obstacles. Despite the ongoing rain and the threat of additional landslides, the team was successful in clearing one spot.

At the time of filing this report, efforts are underway to clear the second spot.
