Healthcare centre for adolescents inaugurated in Dimapur
DIMAPUR — ‘The City Barn,’ a healthcare centre for adolescents under the age of 24 years, was inaugurated by Zavito Ltu, EAC of Dimapur Sardar, at Naga Shopping Arcade in Dimapur on August 23.
The programme was moderated by Sukhrieno Luho, coordinator of City Barn, while an invocation prayer was said by Zubenthung N Shitio, youth director of Lotha Baptist Chruch.
Speaking at the programme, the special guest called upon the youngsters to be more vigilant on their socio-psycho environments as they are being confronted with multiple life pressures due to rapid urbanisations in the state. He acknowledged the noble effort of Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre Dimapur (BYWCD) for initiating such outlets for the youngsters in the city, which is supported by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) and NACO.
The EAC assured his utmost support towards making the programme a successful venture and also appreciated those NGO running the same kind of centre all across the state.
An update from City Barn coordinator stated that Chenithung Humtsoe, director of BYWCD, briefly highlighted the purpose and mission of City Barn and how the approach could help youngsters going through psycho-social issues. He added that educating young minds about the importance of ‘True love waits.’
The resource person encouraged the use of social media platform for the youth to seek services and break the chain of stigma. He added that churches could play commendable role in mobilising and make known of such services available for adolescents to enhance their early health seeking consciousness.
During the programme, Pauhayibe Putlang presented a song of the Beatles “Let it be.”
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Enoch Kithan, while the benediction was said by Romeo Sumi, pastor of Nagamese Baptist Church, Burma Camp.
