Health officials in Zunheboto trained on Dakshata

DIMAPUR — A three-day intensive district-level training on Dakshata for medical officers (MO) and nurses under Zunheboto district was conducted from October 23 to the 25th at the District Hospital conference hall.

An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto stated that Dr. Heto Swu, district programme officer (UIP & RCH), welcomed the participants and highlighted the goals and objectives of the training, which is to enhance the quality of maternal and new-born care during and after childbirth.

The Dakshata training was aimed at equipping healthcare workers to identify and manage common causes of maternal and neonatal mortality, follow essential care standards and uphold quality care throughout childbirth including clinical practices for routine care and management across labour stages.

Resource person, Dr. Meyielhi Kapfo, specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology at District Hospital Zunheboto, spoke on labour stages, vital monitoring, management of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, essential new-born care (ENBC), new-born infections, postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) and biomedical waste management.

He also emphasised on the importance of using the Partograph for monitoring labour progress in labour rooms.

The training included pre and post session tests, practical demonstrations of normal delivery, new-born care and new-born resuscitation using dummies. In addition, the sessions focused on improving maternal and new-born care to reduce mortality rates and ensure quality delivery services.

The training was attended by medical officers, community health officers, GNM and ANM.
