Kohima, May 26 (EMN): The Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, on Thursday said the much-awaited Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research or Nagaland Medical College at Phriebagie in Kohima is 60% complete.
This was updated after the minister visited the college site along with Director Medical Education, Dr. Atsungla, executive engineer and other officials.
‘The overall work progress stands at 60%, where some of the blocks and buildings are almost in completion stage, and handing over to the department soon,’ he tweeted on Thursday.
He said that he visited the construction site and had a review meeting with the consultants, site engineers and workers to take stock of the actual status of the project, ‘considering the need of the institute in the state for the present and the younger generation and to make it functional at the earliest’.
The Health minister also assured to personally monitor the work progress of the project.
Phom’s visit came days after the government of Nagaland refuted reports of fund crunch, saying that the “the project was never grounded” and funds not exhausted.
