Gram sabhas held in Khongsa aspirational block
KIPHIRE — Gram sabhas were conducted at all 23 frontier villages under the Khongsa aspirational block in Kiphire district on Wednesday.
This initiative aims to equip village councils and gram panchayat planning facilitation teams (GPPFTs) for the upcoming agenda-based gram panchayat development plan (GPDP) and to determine the way forward.
Led by the village council chairmen and village development board secretaries, the major sessions and topics of the day included presentations and briefings on various schemes by village-level departments, committees, and organisations.
The discussions focused on identifying gaps and prioritising needs, understanding local sustainable development goals (LSDGs), and sharing experiences from elderly individuals aged 75 and above.
Additionally, there were sessions on GPPFTs and an overview of the GPDP, along with the oath-taking of the preamble and singing of the national anthem.
The gram sabhas were held to undertake a visioning exercise and prioritise needs, ensuring objectivity in planning and fostering a sense of ownership among the communities regarding the planning process.
The initiative aimed to identify priorities in key thematic areas and set clear milestones to be achieved by the gram panchayats during the plan period. The meetings also focused on identifying prioritised needs and crucial issues to address gaps in local development.
