DIMAPUR — Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan on Thursday called upon the citizens of Mon district to work with the government and chart together a sustainable and progressive roadmap for the state’s future.
An update from DIPR informed that the governor shared this message during a meeting held with the head of departments and civil society organisations of Mon district at the DC’s conference hall in Mon town.
He urged them to participate and actively contribute to the dialogue and processes that shape the state as well as the country.
Ganesan reminded the leaders that the colour dance, tradition and valiant history of Konyaks have always been a source of immense pride for Nagaland.
“The majestic wood carvings, the awe-inspiring Aoleang Festival, and the poignant tales of the past are the embodiments of a spirit that has endured through the ages,” said the governor.
He encouraged them to host more cultural days in schools and also debate the relevance of culture and innovate them while standing firmly upon the bedrock of tradition.
The governor expressed gratitude to the healthcare workers who have shown resilience and courage, especially during the COVID pandemic. Asserting that the health of the people is the foundation of the future, he said that a community rooted in wellness and prevention is crucial for healthcare.
Referring to government health-related schemes, he asked the department concerned to ‘take these schemes to the doorsteps of the citizens, so that the common citizen is benefited’. He also highlighted the endeavour of Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to eliminate tuberculosis in the country by 2025—5 years ahead of the global target.
He urged the health authorities to enhance awareness about the PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Asserting that connectivity is the lifeline of progress, Ganesan assured that the border areas of the state will be connected with good roads soon. “Roads are the foundation for trade and commerce, the pathways to education by which we connect to each other,” he said, while encouraging to prioritise sustainable and robust infrastructure that stands the test of time and weather.
He also urged the leaders and educators to renew their commitment to the quest for knowledge, invigorate the institutions, inspire the students and invest in the future of the district through education.
Ganesan further urged the civil society organisations and the law enforcement agencies to go all out against drug abuse in the district and make the substance inaccessible to the youths ‘at all cost’.
The governor was received by the district officials at Mon helipad and accorded a Guard of Honour at Walo Guest House.
The Konyak Union submitted a representation to the governor, reminding him about the unresolved Frontier Nagaland Territory issue.
