GHSS Noklak celebrates golden jubilee

DIMAPUR — The Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Noklak town celebrated its golden jubilee on Friday at the multi-disciplinary stadium on the theme ‘A golden legacy.’

Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, MLA P Longon, congratulated the teachers, staff and students of GHSS Noklak on reaching the important milestone. He also complimented the pioneers who have brought the institution to its present status and level of growth, stated a DIPR report.

“Today, we celebrate this occasion because of the sincere service and hard work rendered by the pioneers of this school,” Longon said.

As an alumnus and former teacher of GHSS Noklak, Longon expressed his pride and gratitude to celebrate 50 remarkable years of the GHSS Noklak. He stated that the school gave him the joy of learning and fulfillment of teaching.

He mentioned that teaching is a noble profession that plays a vital role in shaping individuals, communities and society as a whole. Stating that teaching requires a unique blend of knowledge, skills and personal qualities, he said teachers deserve respect, appreciation and support for their contribution to society.

On the occasion, he urged upon the teachers, staff, students and all the various stakeholders to perform their respective roles and collectively join hands to restore/ regain the good name of the school and the trust of the people.

Earlier, Longon unveiled the jubilee monolith and also released a souvenir.

In his short speech, an alumnus of GHSS Noklak, Leyang, additional chief engineer of PHED, said that GHSS Noklak has produced many good students. He urged them to keep the same spirit in the days to come.

In his encouragement to students, he advised them to go on the right path with a clear mindset, be hardworking and honest so that they would achieve success in life. He further advised them to avoid intoxicated substances and other unethical activities and to respect the elders, parents and teachers.

EAC of Noklak, Bangjunglemba, and the president of Khiamniungan Students’ Union, Shangchiu, also spoke on the occasion.

A prayer was said by Rev. Hempao, executive secretary of KBCA, and songs were presented by the school choir and students. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the school principal, Y Kongkhao Lushing.
