General session of Peren district Children’s Parliament held
DIMAPUR — Children’s Parliament Initiative-II under the aegis of Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), organised general election and general session of the Peren District-Level Children’s Parliament on the theme ‘Enchasing children’s participation in building leadership skills, at Jubilee Hall, St. Xavier Parish, Jalukie, on Friday.
Haikeleilung Pame, JE, PWD Peren, in his key note address, stated that a great leader should be a responsible citizen and set oneself as an example of a “lion”, an update stated.
“To be a good leader, one should be able to take up challenges and keep in mind that though we are in a world full of challenges one should believe in one’s own potential,” he said.
Pame further exhorted the students to make use of time and build themselves up by learning from one’s own mistakes and master their talent through perseverance.
Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by Rev. Father Albert, vice principal of St. Xavier Hr. Sec. School, Jalukie.
Azeu, mentor of LM Hr. Sec. School, Mhainamtsi, chaired the programme and Maheni Martha, training associate, DAN, delivered the welcome address.
A total of 65 participants, including mentors along with the Children’s Parliament representatives from 10 institutions and five neighborhood Children’s Parliament attended the programme.
Zhiilozii from Ramzie School, Jalukie was elected as the Prime Minister of the District Level Children’s Parliament.
