Financial literacy camp with focus on loans held in Chümoukedima
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Rural Bank, Purana Bazar Branch, Dimapur, organised a financial literacy camp with a special focus on loans on March 1 at CTC Hall Chümoukedima, with support from NABARD’s financial inclusion fund (FIF).
According to a DIPR report, the camp was organised in an effort to educate people about the needs, benefits, and services provided by banks.
Abhinav Shivam, Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, stated in his welcome address that the financial literacy camp was organised to provide financial education to those who may not have an extensive financial background, as well as to promote economic well-being among the district residents.
He stated that while many perceive government jobs as secure, a report indicates that only 3.5 out of 100 people in India actually secure such positions. Furthermore, he highlighted that India, currently the fastest-growing economy globally, is experiencing development primarily through private enterprises rather than government employment.
The DC urged the public to devise strategies, considering the numerous schemes and opportunities for beneficial and subsidised loans. He observed that despite the presence of schemes and opportunities, people are resorting to money lenders.
According to him, Nagaland possesses quality human resources, hardworking individuals, and energetic youth. What they require is a little guidance and support.
On the occasion, awareness regarding different schemes was imparted by different banks. In addition to the presentation, there was an interactive session where participants asked questions, sought clarification, and shared their personal financial experiences.
During this session, participants were guided on understanding the importance of setting financial goals and making informed decisions about various financial services.
