Education department felicitates meritorious students of government schools

DIMAPUR — The Directorate of School Education on Friday organised a felicitation programme for meritorious students of government schools at the Morung conference hall with the advisor of School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, as the special guest.

Speaking at the programme, Dr. Yhome congratulated the award recipients and stated that success does not belong to students alone but to teachers as well, who have given their best effort and hard work in motivating students to be sincere in their studies.

He informed that there are 1,939 government schools in Nagaland covering every nook and corner of the state equipped with well qualified teachers for the improvement of education system in the state. He, therefore, called upon the people to change their mindset who think that those students going to government school are from financially weaker section.

He informed that the department is giving its best effort to upgrade the education system by giving free quality-education. He assured that the education system will greatly improve when a rush time will come for admission in GPS, GMS, GHS and GHSS, stated a DIPR report.

Dr. Yhome further urged the teachers to build cordial relationship so as to create congenial atmosphere in the schools and informed that students’ health card (SHC) would be launched on September 5 for student’s healthcare.

The principal director of School Education, Thavaseelan K, in his opening remarks, stated that the award ceremony programme was started in 2023 with the aim to motivate the students in the government schools.

The meritorious award recipients from government schools in HSLC examination 2024 are Khushi Gupta from Government High School, Chandmari; Nambagwangle Haining from Government Higher Secondary School, Jalukie; and Shethilu Medeo from Government Higher Secondary School, Pfutsero.

The award recipients in the HSSLC Arts stream are Ilamguale from Government Higher Secondary School, Chumoukedima; Biseli Sangtam from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung; and Chujai P from Bautüng Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng.

The award recipients in commerce stream are Sony Kumari Sharma from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung; Anmol Kumar Jha from Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima; and Kedoni Nakhro from Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma.

The award recipients in Science stream are Sungtimen Longkumer from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung; Julu Pojar from Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima; and Aosenla from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung.

Report stated that Dr. Yhome gave away the certificates and cash award to the award recipients while the commissioner and secretary of School Education, Kevileno, gave away the certificates to 24 GHS and 3 GHSS for securing 100% pass percentage in HSSLC and HSSLC examination 2024.

The programme was chaired by assistant director, Visetonuo Angami, while songs were presented by the students of Government High School, Chandmari, and Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by director of School Education, Wonthungo Thongoe.
