DNSU new team told to uphold responsibility
The new office bearers of Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) for the tenure 2024-2026 was inducted on Saturday at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur, in the presence of the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, and various other civil society leaders and students.
The new team included Hinoto P Aomi as president, R Michael Yanthan as vice president, Michael Kath as general secretary, Rukuwezo Wetsah as assistant general secretary, Khrieketuozo Natso as finance secretary, Tsuktilong Jamir as games and sports secretary, Kevin Gonmei as education secretary, Tesiding Newmai as speaker and WS Kahor as deputy speaker.
Speaking at the programme, Dr. Chang expressed hope that the new team would work together for the betterment of Dimapur city. He urged the new team to take advice from the senior leaders whenever they face any problems saying that they might not be highly educated like them but they have experienced in dealing with such situations.
In regard to the upcoming ULB election, the DC appealed to the leaders to work together for peaceful conduct of the electoion.
Etsungmomo Kikon, president of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), urged the new team to sincerely carry out their assigned responsibility. He has called for understanding and be informed in the event of differences among them.
Medovi Rhi, president of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), expressed hope that the new team would do justice to the student community.
“We should remember that there are thousands of young people who have raised their hope in us and so it is our responsibility to bring the seeds of change,” Rhi said.
Speeches were also delivered by the outgoing president, Moayanger Jamir, and newly elected president, Hinoto P Aomi.
The dedicatory prayer for the new DNSU office bearers was said by Rev. Candid Sareo, while a song was performed by Khrotsolo Rhakho.
