Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): Dimapur Muncipal Council (DMC) today honoured Sapangtu and Bank Colonies for bagging the cleanest colony award 2022 conducted by Urban Development during a programme held at Hotel Silhouette.

At the event, the DMC handed over cash of INR 20,000 to Sapangtu Colony for securing 1st position and INR 10,000 to Bank Colony for securing 2nd position in the recently concluded competition for the Cleanest Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)/ Wards Award 2022.

DMC also awarded the best sanitation workers to Betoi Chishi, the best Sardar to Dharma Rao, best drivers to Jonak Brahma and Wogtokiu Yimchunger, and best labourers to Mohan Rao and K Ariya.

Speaking at the falicitation programme, DMC administrator, Albert Ezung, stated that the achievements was not only a pride for the two colonies but also the whole of Dimapur as it was the first-ever state competition on the “Cleanest ULBs and Wards Awards- 2022 Nagaland” under the initiatives of Urban Development department.

Ezung also disclosed that Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) also secured 2nd position for Cleanest ULB and Wards Award 2022 Nagaland under category-I comprising of four ULB namely Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung and Chümuokedima. He has attributed to the active participation of Dimapur citizens for the achievement.

Ezung also reminded that people must not participation for the sake of competition and award but should inculcate the habit of cleanliness in their daily lives. He stated that the competition was based on 13 parameters and the cleanest ULB assessment was done by a third party.

Also informing the DMC would soon conduct the cleanest colony competition, the administrator urged the gathering to keep their colony clean.

Besides, Ezung also urged the gathering to continue upholding the spirit of brotherhood as Dimapur is a place where people from different places co-exist together.

Short speeches were delivered by representatives from Dimapur Urban Chairmen Council Federation (DUCCF), GBs’ Union Dimapur (Sardar) (GBUD), Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Sapangtu Colony Council and Bank Colony Council.
