Officials with the winners of District Level Youth Festival 2024 held at town hall, Zunheboto, on Thursday.

DIMAPUR — The District Level Youth Festival 2024, organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) in collaboration with DHEW, SAKHI-One Stop Centre and DAPCU, on the theme ‘Innovation in science and technology’ was held at town hall, Zunheboto, on Thursday.

Addressing the inaugural programme as special guest, ADC Zunheboto, Keyirangding Hegui highlighted on the state’s rich the resources and also the pleasant climate and fertile soil of Zunheboto district.

Emphasising the need to capitalise on the abundant resource available, the ADC said with innovation and improvisation using the latest technologies, the district and state as a whole can progress.

Hegui also lauded the efforts of YRS department for successfully organising the event and giving a platform to the young minds to showcase their talents in the field of science and technology.

Delivering the welcome address, YRO Zunheboto, Atoli Yeptho said that the celebration aims to mould the youths of the state at par with the national level by giving them equal opportunities and platforms.

She informed that, winners of the competition would be vying in the state level events.

Lino Kiba from Bloomfield High School secured the first spot and Shudhanshu from Olympic Higher Secondary School was placed second in declamation contest.

In the science mela, Nighakivi Sumi and Imnameren Ozüküm representing Olympic Higher Secondary School claimed the top spot and Lighi K Awomi from Seven Homes School were runners-up.

In painting competition, Onilo N Zhimo from Corner Stone Higher Secondary School won first position and Vikivi H Zhimo from Bloomfield School was placed second.

The celebration witnessed various cultural performances like folk songs and dances from the youths and special presentations from Kiviti Muru.

Further, the DHEW-BBBP conducted activities to sensitise the mass on safety and security of women in the district and women and girls’ rights.
