District-level RI microplan training held in Zunheboto

DIMAPUR — A one-day district-level training on routine immunisation (RI) microplan and health system strengthening was conducted at the District Hospital Zunheboto conference hall on Tuesday.

The training consisted of more than 80 participants, including medical officers, the district programme manager, block programme managers, the vaccine and cold chain manager, block ASHA coordinators, community health officers, and nurses from all health units under Zunheboto district, according to a press release.

Dr. G R Rio, deputy director of Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP) from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, and Rajesh K Monsang, RPO UNDP, were the resource persons for the day-long training.

The training covered various topics, including RI microplan formats, conducting quality headcount surveys, supportive supervision and monitoring, safe injection practices, immunisation waste management, adverse events following immunisation and management of anaphylaxis, cold chain and logistics management, the electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN), the U-WIN portal, communication plans for RI, vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) surveillance, and the use of data to improve immunisation coverage and activities.

Dr. Heto Swu delivered the welcome address, stating that routine immunisation microplan preparation and updating is a regular activity during which health workers visit every household in urban and rural areas to identify pregnant mothers and newborns/children for due vaccination.
