DHFW launches coffee table book on Nagaland Health Project

DIMAPUR — A coffee table book titled ‘Engaging communities; empowering lives’ was launched by Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, V Kezo at Hotel Vivor, Kohima on June 19.

The book was published by the project director, Nagaland Health Project (NHP), Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW), stated a DIPR report.

Speaking at the launching programme, the commissioner and secretary congratulated all the officials and mentioned that presently Nagas have become health conscious due to increased awareness, improved health services and their utilisation across the state.

Kezo said that the project’s purpose is to improve the quality of healthcare system, which is being implemented in Nagaland through numerous local initiatives, cross-sectoral coordination and intervention with other stakeholders.

The community’s capacity on governance, planning and institutional development was enhanced along with the mainstreaming of gender inclusion through the project, he said.

The coffee table book is a combination of the best practices and innovation from different parts of the state. The stories represent the strength of the community and the partnership between the government and community, which proves that when different stakeholders work together and own the process, projects can achieve the desired result, he added.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by project director (NHP) Dr. Imkongtemsu Longchar and a brief note on the project’s journey was presented by deputy CMO, Mon, Dr. Thomas Keppen.

Senior health specialist of World Bank Group’s Health, Nutrition and Population (HNP), Marion Jane Cros shared on the conception of the book, while sr. health specialist of World Bank Group’s HNP, Bathula Amith Nagaraj spoke on the implementation of the project.
