DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan held a joint meeting with chairmen of all colonies, GBs and political parties under Wokha town, on Saturday.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting, held at the DC’s conference hall, was also attended by district superintendent of police (SP) and returning officer (RO) and ADC, Wokha.

In his address, the DC appealed to all the colonies leaders to extend support and co-operation for peaceful, free and fair conduct of the forthcoming ULB election.
Ranjan informed that a committee will be constituted with representatives from all colonies and political parties, to maintain proper co-ordination and dissemination of information so as to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the ULB election.
He also announced that outsiders or voters whose names are not registered in the electoral roll will not be allowed be allowed to enter colonies during the election process.
SP Wokha, Aotula T Imchen appealed to all the colony leaders and political parties to maintain peaceful atmosphere in their respective colonies and wards, to ensure that no law and order situation arises during the electioneering process. She also assured full co-operation on the part of the police.
Returning officer and ADC, Wokha, K Furhesie Nyuwi apprised the leaders on the guidelines relating to Model Code of Conduct (MCC), campaigning process and other important information in regard to the ULB election.
He urged the colony leaders to extend assistance during the distribution of voter slip, which will be done by the sector officials.
The meeting unanimously resolved that show of strength or force will be totally banned during the scrutiny for smooth and peaceful conduct of the election.
