Dr. Tinojongshi Chang and Rev. Fr Roy Geroge, executive director of AIDA, releasing the 2023 child led survey in Dimapur on Friday.

DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, has encouraged the student community to cultivate positive attitude in order to achieve their dreams and succeed in life.

He stated this during the closing programme of ‘Substance abuse awareness’ campaign 2024 on the theme “Break free: Choose health, not harm” and release of child led survey 2023 on Friday at AIDA complex in Dimapur. The programme was organised by ANMA Integrated Development Association- Child Friendly Dimapur (AIDA-CDF).

Describing children as the future leaders, he stated that unless the community involve them and talk to them about quality to survive and their rights, it would be difficult for them to grow in a society.

He expressed hope that many students from different localities are blessed through the campaign initiated by AIDA. He added that through the initiative of AIDA, many educated youngsters are coming up and giving their time for the noble cause of future generation.

He mentioned that education is not only about learning bookish knowledge but also being aware of various activities to grow. He opined that the activities initiated by AIDA would mould the children and helped them to be successful in life.

“Education is one of the most important things, but apart from education, the healthy growth of a child is very important,” Dr Chang said.

He believed that the initiative of the AIDA would help even those students who are unable to go to schools.

Garrol Lotha, project coordinator of Child Friendly Dimapur (CFD), informed that the campaign began on May 10 with the concept to create awareness on substance abuse. She stated that they were able to reach out to 1200 students, youth and various civil society organisations during the campaign.

They also conducted various activities in different schools across Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts.

During the programme, DC Dimapur also released the 2023 child-led survey book, while songs were presented by the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Singrijan, and Evershine School, Riverbelt, while a dance was presented by the students of Cambridge School and poem recitation by Sapuni from Government Middle School, Midland.
