Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (Dayo) and the Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) have supported the efforts of the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) in their pursuit towards an early completion of the Trans Nagaland Expressway.
A Dayo’s statement issued by its media cell has appreciated the initiatives undertaken by NFHRCC to invite all the 11 tribal hohos and all MLAs representing the affected tribes to a consultative meeting on February 5. In this regard, Dayo has appealed to all the MLAs from its community to attend the meeting and be a part of the decision making to realise the dreams of completing the foothills road before the onset of monsoon season.
While expecting positive outcome from the proposed meeting, Dayo stated that a motorable road should be completed before the onset of monsoon season. It also appealed to those in the corridors of power to consider the plight of the majority Naga tribes due to incomplete road connectivity.
“Your statesmanship by cutting across political party lines for peoples’ welfare will be a trendsetter to the much needed equal developmental policy along with strong political will that Nagaland needs today,” a Dayo statement added.
In a similar statement, the Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) placed on record its support for an early completion of the foothill road.
TSUD felt that the road is of paramount importance to every Naga irrespective of tribes or region as it would boost the economy. TSUD was of the view that apart from shortening the time of travel towards various destinations, the foothill road would facilitate movement of goods and services.
TSUD has sought support from all the legislators. It further conveyed best wishes to NFHRCC.
