Cyclone Midhili: Nagaland disaster authority issues advisory
DIMAPUR — As Cyclone Midhili makes landfall along the coasts of Bangladesh, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) of the Home Department on Friday issued an alert for residents of the state.
Although Nagaland will not be directly affected by the cyclonic storm, it was notified that the state will witness light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on November 17 and the 18th.
The NSDMA urged the public to be vigilant in case of any eventualities including lightning, gusty winds and thunderstorms during this period. It also requested the public not to take shelter under large trees and near the river banks, to prevent unnecessary risk to life from lightning and flash floods.
The NSDMA further advised the district disaster management authorities and other line departments to keep close watch, monitor the situation in their respective areas, and take appropriate precautionary measures to attend to any emergencies to save lives and properties.
