Contesting candidates in Niuland share visions with public

DIMAPUR — A total of 17 contesting candidates for nine wards of Niuland Town Council (NTC) election have shared their visions for the area during a common platform programme organised by the Niuland Area Citizens’ Forum (NACF) at Clock Tower in Niuland town on Friday.

In a short speech, Vikato Shikhu, general secretary of Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), appealed to the public to be vigilant and take part in election as the candidates will represent them for all round development. He also urged the candidates not to promote monetary practices as it leads to corruption in the long term.

The president of NACF, Kakishe Shikhu, in his presidential address, acknowledged the pioneers for their extensive efforts for the Niuland ever since its establishment as a sub-division. He also highlighted the aims and objectives behind organising the programme.

He further urged the people to conduct election in a free and fair manner and appealed to the candidates to dedicate themselves and work for the betterment of society.

The 17 contesting candidates who spoke on the occasion included Visheli Zhimo (BJP) from ward 1, Samuel Holo (BJP) from Ward 2, Ikhadu Zhimo (BJP) and Hoinoto Yeptho (IND) from ward 3, G Tozheli Sema (BJP) and Holika H Kiba (IND) from ward 4, Kahoi Holo (BJP) and Kakuto Yeptho (IND) from ward 5, P Tokishe Zhimomi (IND) and Vitozhe Sema (BJP) from ward 6, Lomy Kiba (IND), Vikheli Chishi (BJP) and Tovili Sumi (IND) from ward 7, Bonato Yeptho (IND) Kuhoto I Awomi (INC) and Shihoto Zhimo (BJP) from ward 8, and Kakheka Zhimo (BJP) from ward 9.
