Consultative meeting on protection of children held in Mon
DIMAPUR — As part of Child Rights Week, the district administration, Mon, in coordination with the district child protection unit office, conducted a one-day consultative meeting with key stakeholders dealing with welfare, care and protection of children at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on November 20.
According to an update, Samuel Konyak, SDO of Phomching, delivered the keynote address on behalf of the district administration.
A presentation on Mission Vatsalya programme was given by Wanloi, LCPO, DCPU, Mon, followed by Ngepkhao S, coordinator of Child Helpline and P Hamkai Konyak, director of John 3:16 on Legal Adoption.
The programme highlighted the mission, pillars and the impacts of Mission Vatsalya and a detailed presentation of the structure and functions of Child Helpline was also delivered. In addition, the members present were also acquainted with the roles and procedures for legal adoption and its significance.
After the presentation from the resource person, time was allotted for discussion and clarification from the participants where all the stakeholders took active participation in further understanding on the purpose of the programme.
The programme was attended by the officials from Police department, Medical department, district legal service authority, judiciary, Child Helpline, the DWO, CWC, Sakhi One-Stop Centre, child care institutions, and chairmen of all the wards.
The programme was chaired by M Alem Konyak, PO (IC) DCPU, Mon while Sevehu Chuzho, DCPO, Mon, delivered the welcome address.
