Committee on Estimates conducts spot verification of project sites

Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): Members of the Committee on Estimates, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) conducted spot verification of different project sites in Kohima and Dimapur on July 28 and 29 respectively.

The team was led by chairman of the committee Dr. Chotisuh Sazo, along with officials from the department of Municipal Affairs (Kohima Smart City Project), Nagaland Bee-Keeping and Honey Mission and Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency.

On the first day, the Committee visited the multi-level car parking located at Old Medical Directorate, Kohima, multi-level car parking at Old NST, Kohima and waste management unit, Meriema under the department of Municipal Affairs.

During the visit, it was informed that the actual timeline for completion of the two multi-level car parking projects was for 24 months. However, the work got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an update stated.

On the second day, the Committee visited the material recovery facility and compost plant at 7th Mile, Shukovi road, Chumoukedima to take stock of the ground realities of work being carried out by the Chumoukedima Town Council.

It stated that the department concerned had raised some of its grievances and proposed for machinery assistance for the better management of the waste system.

The Committee later visited the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre at 6th Mile, Sovima under the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) and the Multi Utility Centre under the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM).

It said that the committee advised the officials of both the centres to work harder and come up with more innovative ideas and creativity in the future. The committee said that the two missions have a lot of scope and potential in the state for creating self-employment and generating additional income for the household.

The chairman was accompanied by committee members Amenba Yaden, CL John, Tovihoto Ayemi, Dr. Longrineken, Zhaleo Rio, Mhathung Yanthan, Khriehu Liezietsu, officers and staff of the NLA secretariat.
