CMA holds awareness on 33% reservation for women
DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) organised an awareness programme on 33% reservation for women in relation to the urban local bodies (ULB) at Clock Tower in Phek town on June 4.
Speaking at the programme, CMA president, Zhonelu Tunyi, stated that creation of 33% reservation for women in Nagaland was to provide opportunity for the womenfolk in every field including decision making policies, a DIPR report stated.
She called upon the intending women candidates not to contest in the election for their own benefit but for the welfare of every women and give their best for the greater interest of the public. She also urged the intending candidates not to indulge in money power to gain votes but practice honesty and sincerity.
Stating that CMA would persevere for a peaceful, free and fair urban local bodies election in the district, she appealed to all the candidates to ensure a healthy and peaceful contest that would bring development to the town.
Self-introduction and speeches were also delivered by eight intending women candidates from 4 wards of Phek town.
The secretary of Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, Kezevinuo Krome, read out the CMA resolution during the programme.
Speeches were also delivered by the president of Phek Town Public Forum, convenor of Ward Chairmen Forum, Head of GBs’ Union and president of Phek Area Mothers’ Association.
