DIMAPUR —With an aim to bring back one of the world’s best genres, classic rock, Music Rendezvous, is all set to organise “Classic Rock Ballads” for a cause on May 18 at Mandeville Garden in Dimapur from 7 pm onwards.

Music Rendezvous, an event organiser, through the concert aims to promote musicians and bring back the slowly disappearing classic rock genre.

This was announced at a press conference in Dimapur on Thursday.

The event organised by Music Rendezvous and supported by Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) and Mokokchung District Disabled Forum (MDDF), will witness down the memory lane with headliners Obed Kath, vocalist of the fame Divine Connection; Moanungsang and Asung Imchen.

The opening of the concert will witness performances by Hotpot featuring Classic Project Band Jonathan, Akok Imsong, Temjen Lemtur, Yangkum Jinger and Akum Jamir.

Akum Jamir, bassist of Classic Project band said that the concert is to celebrate organic music by bringing back music from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000, making it an add-on for the parents and children to witness the concert.

“We want kids to listen to what their parents were listening. Those parents who have watched rock show, it is time to bring their children; and for children if their parents have not been to concert bring them to experience live concert. We look forward to have a good time”, he conveyed.

The founder of Music Rendezvous, Roselyn Pongen, emphasising on the music for a cause said ‘if we are doing a concert, we decided why not for a cause’. “We are giving a portion of the concert proceeds to MDDF,” she expounded.

Also, she said that the event will be in series where the following concerts will take place in Kohima and Mokokchung with the same artistes on board.

Jamir informed that the concert will be for around two and half hours where the audience will get to sing along 20 songs with the artistes.

However, he said no liquor or cigarettes will be allowed inside while stalls would be available at the venue.

Obed Kath conveyed a message wherein he appealed to all planning to come and also not planning, to come and witness the concert considering weekend as a good time to spend with classic rock music.

While expressing his high regard for every music genre, he recounted how they grew up trying to be musicians with absolute hardwork and dedication without any resources and persuaded the parents to let their children pursue music if they show interest in this profession.

The event partners of the concert are Love East powered by Shiu Lights, Crescendo and AJ Power.

The tickets ranging from various categories will be available at Crescendo in Dimapur and also at the spot on the concert day.
