Chokri Area Games and Sports Association organises 18th cultural day
Dimapur, Feb. 20 (EMN): Chokri Area Games and Sports Association(CAGSA) organised its 18th cultural day at Pfutsero Sports Complex on Feb. 19.
The inaugural program started with the hoisting of the flag by Koulie Puro, proprietor of Education Connection and Class -1 Contractor as the guest speaker, a press release informed.
Puro, in his speech stated that, ‘our culture, which was practiced by our grandfathers should not be lost but should be preserved and respected’ and challenged the present generation to keep imparting our unique identity to the younger generation and make the day a competition to bring more peace, sincerity, trust, love and unity among the people.
The competitions included folk dance, indigenous group song, native duet, tug of war and traditional fire making.
North Kikruma secured the first position in folk dance with Phusachodu village as the runner-up. Thenyizu Village emerged the winner in indigenous group song, while Khulazu Basa secured the runner-up.
Phusachodu village won the traditional fire making competition as well as the tug of war, while Khulazu Bawe secured the second place in the traditional fire making.
Menawhile, Mutsivoyi Kotso, former general secy. CPO, was the guest of honour for the closing ceremony. He appreciated all the villages for the day and recalled it as a day of ‘our great grandfathers’.
He further urged the leaders of all villages to keep unity and strengthen the unique culture to grow together.
A total of 11 villages participated in the day.
