Chakhesang Scholars’ Forum installs new office bearers
PFUTSERO — The installation programme for the office bearers of the Chakhesang Scholars’ Forum (CSF) for the tenure of 2024–2027, along with the sharing of research experiences, was held at Pfutsero Government College, Pfutsero, on Saturday.
In his keynote address, chairman of CSF, Dr. Zavise Rume, highlighted the forum’s agenda, which aims to foster healthy interactions among members and promote teaching, research, publication, and extension programmes such as seminars and workshops.
He further emphasised the forum’s commitment to promoting scientific and empirical facts within the academic and research domains. Dr. Zavise Rume urged all members to take a proactive stance and collaborate to advance the forum’s objectives.
The advisor of CSF, Hüsazü Epao, stressed the importance of the forum becoming a repository of information to benefit the community. He highlighted the numerous societal issues and encouraged members to proactively tackle challenges and take action.
He encouraged members to reflect on societal issues and consider researching them, underscoring that research is a fundamental expectation of the forum. Additionally, he expressed concern about the quality of research and urged a renewed emphasis on rigorous investigation.
In his greetings, the president of the Chakhesang Public Organisation, Vezuhu Keyho, highlighted the absence of adequate documentation within the community. He stressed that the forum is essential in addressing this need and suggested that the CSF should evolve beyond being merely an association, aiming instead to become a research centre and a think tank forum.
The CSF office bearers for the tenure 2024-2027 include Dr. Zavise Rume as chairman, Dr. Hüsazülü C Khamo as vice chairman, Neipre-ü Mero as general secretary, and Dr. Tsutshowe-ü Sekhamo as secretary (academic journal publication), Dr. Gideon Phesao as secretary (satistics), Rukuzo Ruho as secretary (finance), Reyivolü Rhakho as secretary (press and media), and Dr. Meyietsolo Ritse as treasurer.
The search committee for the new office bearers consisted of Hüsazü Epao as convenor, Medozü Mero and Dr. Neizo Puro as members, and Dr. Zavise Rume as an ex-officio member.
Following the installation programme, research experiences were shared by Rukuzo Ruho, associate professor at Baptist Theological College, Pfutsero, and Dr. Zavise Rume, professor at SCERT Nagaland.
