Bridge on NH-2 damaged, traffic restrictions in place

DIMAPUR — Heavy rains have caused critical damage to a bridge near the E Service Station on National Highway-2 between Viswema and Jakhama.

The NH-2 connects Kohima with the state of Manipur via Mao Gate.

As a precautionary measure, all heavy vehicle traffic on this route has been temporarily suspended until further notice, the Kohima Police informed in a press release on Tuesday.

Passenger vehicles and light motor vehicles (LMV) have also been advised to avoid this route until further notice.

Further, it urged the public to cooperate with this precautionary traffic advisory.
