Body of drowned youth recovered in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — The body of 20-year-old Akash Mandal, who tragically drowned in the Dhansari River near Thaheku village, was recovered on Friday morning.

Mandal was reportedly taking bath in the river with three friends when the tragic incident occurred around 1:30 pm on August 15.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched an extensive search operation till 5:30 pm on Thursday and resumed at 7:30 am on Friday.

ASI Angukato K Yeptho, operation commander, confirmed that Mandal’s body was finally located and retrieved around 11 am on Friday.

The body had been taken to District Hospital Dimapur.

Yeptho added that Mandal’s family members are travelling from Assam to claim the body.
