Bishnupur district of Manipur receives Digital Transformation Award

Imphal, Nov. 9 (EMN): Bishnupur district of Manipur has received the ‘Governance Now Digital Transformation Award 2019,’ in recognition for its efforts for taking up digital projects successfully in the district.
The award was received by the district’s Deputy Commissioner Neeta Arambam and District Manager Prasanta Oinam of DIT government of Manipur at the award ceremony in Delhi on November 6.

“The award is the result of the collective efforts of the staffs, civil society organisations, and the people,” said the DC.

In the past two years, debit card holders increased by 47.04% and business correspondence from the 24 Gram Panchayats has increased from 24 to 35, he informed.

Earlier, Bishnupur district also bagged Apollo Telemedicine Award in 2017 and Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2018 on the category of promotion of digital payments in 2018.

Karang, a small lake island in Loktak lake was declared India’s first cashless island in January 2017, after the island fulfill the centre’s necessary criteria.

MSPDCL bags two awards for power supply improvement
The Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) has been conferred with two awards for the significant improvement of power supply in the state in the power sector.

The MSPDCL bagged 1st Rank in the 7th Innovation with ‘Impact Awards for Discoms 2019’ given under the ‘Performance Improvement Award’ category and first prize under Innovation with Impact Award-Northeastern states category.

MSPDCL Managing Director L Priyokumar of and Executive Director H Shantikumar received the awards during the concluding day of 2 day 13th India Energy Summit 2019 in New Delhi on Thursday, sources in Imphal said.

The awards was handed over by Ministry of Power, New and Renewable Energy Secretary SC Garg.

The 13th India Energy Summit 2019 was organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, New and Renewable Energy.
