BBBP week: DC Zunheboto emphasises nutrition, breastfeeding
DIMAPUR — As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) week for maternity benefits, SANKALP-District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Mission Shakti, Zunheboto, invited mothers with girls born this year under institutional births to a gathering on Wednesday at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall.
DC Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, handed over baby gift hampers and nursing covers to encourage breastfeeding among the mothers present. He also discussed the benefits of better nutrition and the significance of the girl child, according to a DIPR report.
The district mission coordinator of DHEW Zunheboto, Ikali Wokhami, chaired the programme and also explained the maternity benefits under the BBBP scheme.
The district programme officer, Social Welfare, and nodal officer of Mission Shakti, Zunheboto, Bonathung Ngullie, raised awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and shared good practices for lactating mothers.
Ngullie encouraged the beneficiaries to use services at Anganwadi centres and to participate in the department’s ongoing nutrition activities.
A total of 25 lactating mothers attended and received gift hampers.
