Today is World Animals Day 04th October; let us spread some awareness about Animal Basic Rights. Animal are asset of our society. They have feeling and emotion like human being; therefore it is the responsibility of every human being to love, care and protect our animal and prevent cruelty, abusesĀ  by beating/hitting and forced animal to struggle and work. There are various ways to take care of our animals such as adoption of stray homeless animals by providing shelter and food, by treating the injured / sick/ disease animals with our love, care and compassion and alleviating their suffering.

Animals have as much of right to live as we human being do and we owe them much for our works, food, eggs and home companions. The least we can do for our animals are to provide them with their basic rights.

Some of the basic rights of animals are as follows:

  1. Animals should be housed in a safe building with fire safety equipment and an evacuation plan.
  2. The animal house should be away from sound, dust and air pollution.
  3. The house should have adequate ventilation, light and clean portable water.
  4. Sufficient floor space with the freedom for movement without overcrowding, obstruction, injury or fear.
  5. Any injured sick/disease pets/domestic animals should get immediate treatment to alleviate their suffering.
  6. Adequate well balance diet to be provided.
  7. Timely vaccination and deworming and regular check-up of animals.
  8. Transporting pet/domestic animals should be accompanied with health record certificate.
  9. Temperature and weather condition are to taken into consideration for pet/animals to move from one place to another either by road/train/flights.
  10. It is the bounded duty of all pet owners to groom, train, exercise, helps the pet to socialize and to provide timely basis health facilities.

Rights of animals should be propagated not only to the pet/ livestock owner but also to the general public by educating people through radio talk, press media, seminar/workshop in school and colleges etc. we should all stand together and work for the welfare of all pet/animals that lack voice.
