Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) and the Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) on Tuesday expressed dismay at the pace of four-lane National Highway-29 construction, saying that difficult times are ahead if measures are not taken before monsoon sets in.
The organisation claimed in a joint statement that the justifications given by the NHIDCL are unreasonable, saying that they found lack of seriousness and responsibility on its part during an inquiry.
They stated that Dimapur district administration and the state government are “equally liable and responsible for the delay in the work”. “It is also learnt that only a sizeable portion of land are given in the road expansion,” read the statement.
“We are also left to wonder whether any environmental impact assessment was made prior to the implementation of the work. Apparently, land acquisition was only an open ended measure to activate the work which has hazardously created a total disaster putting human lives at risk, created massive environment destruction and inconvenienced the commuters on the vital lifeline of the state and beyond,” it added.
