Awareness programme on Lokayukta held in Tuensang

DIMAPUR — A one-day awareness programme on the functioning of the Nagaland Lokayukta, in collaboration with the district administration of Tuensang, took place at the DC conference hall in Tuensang on Wednesday.

According to a report from DIPR, Banuo Z Jamir, the Lokayukta of Nagaland, emphasised during the event that the Lokayukta is an independent body with the authority to investigate allegations of corruption, abuse of power, and maladministration within government offices and among public servants.

She stressed their crucial role in promoting transparency and accountability in public administration within the state.

A Zibenthung Kithan, the DC of Tuensang, expressed gratitude in his brief speech to the Nagaland Lokayukta team, led by Banuo Z Jamir, for their efforts in raising awareness about the Lokayukta in the district.

Mayang Lima, Upa Lokayukta, spoke about the Nagaland Lokayukta Act of 2017 and the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988, while Khanrinla T Koza, Upa Lokayukta, discussed the Whistleblowers Protection Act of 2024.
