DIMAPUR — In a stride towards environmental conservation and sustainable development, Assam Rifles initiated a tree plantation campaign spanning border villages in Kiphire district.
According to a press release, this initiative is part of Assam Rifles‘ ongoing efforts to foster ecological balance. The tree plantation drive, inaugurated on Wednesday, aims to plant over 62,000 saplings of native species by the end of the monsoon season.
The project is set to cover critical areas prone to deforestation and soil erosion, thereby enhancing the green cover and biodiversity of the region.
The drive on Wednesday had participation from Assam Rifles personnel, local communities, schoolchildren, and various non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
