DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, organised a “Breaking the Silence” as well as observed “World Suicide Prevention Day” on September 10 in Mon district with an aim to raise awareness about mental health and substance abuse, particularly among the youth.

According to an update, the event featured Kenie Ritse, Miss Northeast 2023, and Neiketuno Sechu, Miss Nagaland 2023, who are collaborating with Assam Rifles through the ACTS Foundation. They highlighted the importance of mental well-being and the dangers of substance abuse.

The campaign was organised to encourage open conversations, challenge stigmas, and empower young minds to seek help without fear of judgement and had participation from a total of 300 students, 32 officials from various departments, and 21 representatives from civil society organisations in Mon district.

Also, all attendees took a pledge led by Neiketuno Sechu as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India) Abhiyaan.
