Assam Rifles conducts counseling sessions, plantation drive
DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles organised career counselling sessions and an awareness campaign on careers in the Armed Forces in collaboration with the Air Force Recruitment Office, Guwahati, at Woodland Higher Secondary School and Immanuel Higher Secondary School in Zunheboto on July 22.
According to a press release, these sessions were aimed at guiding students interested in joining the Indian Air Force.
The discussions covered recruitment processes, eligibility criteria, training programmes, and career progression, emphasising the rigorous selection procedures, including exams, fitness tests, medical assessments, and interviews.
Also, a quiz session was organised during the event, with prizes awarded to participants.
The sessions were attended by 110 students from Woodland Higher Secondary School and 95 students from Immanuel Higher Secondary School, along with their principals and teachers, and aimed to provide comprehensive support for aspiring candidates.
Plantation drives across state
In line with the week-long tree plantation drive commenced by Eastern Command, Assam Rifles planted 250 saplings in Pungro and Vongti villages of Kiphire to enhance environmental sustainability and foster a sense of ecological responsibility among the local community.
On the third day of the drive, Tuesday, a total of 45 Assam Rifles personnel and locals planted 250 saplings, including a mix of local species and fruit-bearing trees sourced from the region.
It was mentioned that the drive is part of a broader effort by the Assam Rifles to engage with and support the communities they serve.
Similar plantation drives were also initiated in Phek town, Ziphu, and Akhen villages of Phek district. On the first day, Assam Rifles personnel and 57 students planted 2,000 saplings.
In Kohima, Assam Rifles personnel, along with their families and 110 students from Assam Rifles Public School, carried out a mass plantation drive on Tuesday and planted 500 saplings.
In Wakching, Mon district, Assam Rifles personnel planted a total of 120 saplings, including various indigenous and fruit-bearing trees, during the drive.
