DIPHU — Discussions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in media marked the state-level National Press Day observation in Imphal on Thursday.
Celebrating the day, a workshop on ‘Media in the era of Artificial Intelligence’ was held under the aegis of Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Manipur.
The workshop's resource persons were assistant professor Dr. Khumukcham Robindro Singh of Manipur University's department of Computer Science and senior technical officer of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, NIELIT, Imphal, Thongam Bobo.
It was moderated by the editor-in-chief of Impact TV News, Yumnam Rupachandra.
The commissioner of DIPR, M Joy Singh, and director of DIPR, Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh, were also present at the workshop, along with editors and senior journalists from various media organisations, as well as students from Manipur University and NIELIT, Imphal.
Diphu: National Press Day was also observed in Karbi Anglong at SAI Stadium, 5th mile, Diphu-Manja Road, under the aegis of the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) on Thursday.
DPCKA adviser Longsing Teron, on the occasion, emphasised the crucial role media plays in society, particularly in disseminating information about government schemes. Concurrently, he acknowledged the challenges faced by print media due to the rise of digital platforms while also highlighting its enduring potential for record-keeping.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Nagen Bora, a senior journalist, urged the media in his speech to serve the public diligently by providing authentic information that will benefit society.
As part of the celebration, a friendly cricket match was played between DPCKA and the Karbi Students Association (KSA), with KSA securing a victory by 70 runs. Urly Rongpi of KSA was named the man of the match.
Meanwhile, the Karbi Anglong Digital News Forum also commemorated National Press Day with a separate programme held at Recreation Park.
