DIMAPUR — Illustrating that advancement in science and technology has made life easier and less complicated, the advisor of School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, has urged us to use technology for the goodness of humanity.

Dr. Yhome stated this during the state-level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2023, organised by the Directorate of School Education, in collaboration with the office of the District Education Officer (DEO), Kohima, at Ura Academy Hall in Kohima on Thursday.

While expounding that Naga society has come a long way from the head-hunting culture to catching up with the rest of the world in a short span of time, Dr. Yhome, who was the special guest, urged the students to be creative without any limits and think without bounds.

He has also stressed the need for exemplary leaders with a strong narrative to lead the society.

Dr. Yhome pointed out that toys bring excitement to children and also make them inquisitive to know the idea behind the toy. He added that toys are a great tool to teach children about various things.

Also speaking on the occasion, the director of School Education, Wonthungo Tsopoe, thanked the participating schools for being part of the exhibition despite the short notice. He said the exhibition was organised on the directive from the ministry at the centre.

Highlighting on prevailing one-way teaching method in the state where only the teacher teaches, he commented on the need for more interactions between the teacher and students. He also called upon the teachers to give their best and nurture the students.

The chief mentor of the Innovation Hub and Space Education Centre at Nagaland Science Centre, Onongoto Solehol, delivered a talk on ‘Technology and toys.’

Patricia Vizo delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was delivered by assistant director of School Education, Gloria Ezung.
