State-Level Youth Basketball C’ship concludes in Imphal East

IMPHAL — Lalambung Makhong Youth Voluntary Association team emerged as champions of the 28th State-Level Youth Basketball Championship by defeating Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) by a margin of 40-38 in their final match played at Nahabam Basketball Court in Imphal East district on Sunday evening.

Former national-level footballer turned politician Kh Ibomcha, who is also an MLA from Lamlai assembly constituency, was the chief guest at the closing function. Also, many veteran sportspersons, retired officials, and sports lovers turned up to watch the final match of the basketball tournament.

Earlier, on Saturday, the girls’ team of ESU defeated their rivals, Youth Organisation Sporting Club (YOSC) Khurai, to claim the winner’s title in the girls’ category.

The state-level basketball championship began on October 18, with a total of 13 teams participating, including 10 boys’ teams and three girls’ teams.
