DIMAPUR — The Sumi region of the NSCN (IM) has resolved to reaffirm unflinching support to its collective leadership, while it also strongly condemned the policies of Indian government to ban Free Movement Regime (FMR), Supreme Court’s decision on Oting incident, deletion of ‘Naga’ from the name of individual in the official record and RIIN-mechanism to divide the Naga society.

The resolution to this effect was taken during the NSCN (IM) Sumi region national workers consultative meeting held on October 10 in Shoixe village under Satakha sub-division of Zunheboto district.

An update from CAO of Sumi region stated that national workers from every block under Zunheboto district attended the meeting, which was chaired by Pihoto Kiho, CAO of Sumi region.

It stated that Qhevihe Chishi Swu, member of collective leadership, along with senior kilonsers namely Zhehoto Awomi and Kihoyi Swu spoke during the meeting.

In his speech, Zhehoto Awomi spoke about the recruitment practices during late Isak Chishi Swu period, emphasising the importance of consulting with the parents, village council and church authority before recruiting them in NSCN (IM). He also expressed concern about increasing problems relating to drug addiction and anti-social activities undermining its integrity.

He urged the gathering to put God first in daily life, uphold their responsibilities and work diligently for the betterment of the society and asserted that financial gain should not come at the expense of community values.

Kihoyi Swu stated that Nagas are independent nation before India got independence. He urged the congregation not to be frightened by the ‘Divide and rule policy’ of the Indian government stating that NSCN government is deeply rooted in Third countries for any supports under any circumstances.

Qhevihe Chishi Swu highlighted the importance of Naga freedom movement and cautioned against the Indian government tactics that aim to undermine the Naga unity. He has called for a renewed commitment to keep the Naga issue alive.

It stated that the meeting served as a vital platform for addressing challenges and fostering unity among the Sumi people, reaffirming their commitment to social, political integrity and cultural preservation.

In the meeting, chairperson of NSWON Sumi region, Inoli Achumi, delivered a short speech on unity and oneness and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vitoi Zhimo, deputy kilonser.
