DIMAPUR — In a vibrant display of solidarity and awareness, the Red Ribbon Club of Zunheboto Government College (ZGC) organised a series of flashmobs at the Centenary Gate junction in Zunheboto town and within the college campus on Friday.

The event, conducted under the directives of the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), was aimed at promoting HIV and AIDS testing, provide support for individuals living with the virus and advocate for a drug-free lifestyle, an update from the college stated.

Participants, clad in red ribbons symbolising their commitment to the cause, performed choreographed routines that captivated onlookers and drew attention to the critical issue of HIV/AIDS.

The energetic performances were interspersed with informative announcements about the importance of testing and the need for community support for those affected.

“We want to break the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and encourage people to get tested and support one another,” said Jenny Kent, assistant professor at ZGC and nodal officer from the Red Ribbon Club.

“This event is not just about dancing; it’s about raising awareness and promoting a healthier, drug-free lifestyle,” she added.

The flashmob successfully engaged the community, fostering discussions about HIV prevention and support, and inspiring many to take proactive steps towards health education and advocacy.

“Through such initiatives, the Red Ribbon Club continues to play a vital role in combating misinformation and stigma related to HIV/AIDS in the region, highlighting the importance of unity and awareness in addressing public health issues,” it added.
