Notifies ban on firecrackers during upcoming festive season
DIMAPUR — The Khango-led NSCN/GPRN has directed all night clubs, pubs, lounges, restaurants, hotels and discotheques in Dimapur to open till 10 pm only, “in the larger interest of the common people.”
In a press communiqué, the group stated that it was issuing the directive following numerous complaints from the general public and various CSOs regarding late night operation of night clubs, pubs, lounges, bootlegging and “related immoral activities” within Dimapur.
Expressing dismay over the “lackadaisical attitude” of the state government and security forces to such “illegal activities”, it also noted with concern the presence of underage boys and girls, especially students in uniform, in “such establishment involved in immoral activities.”
“The NSCN/GRPN (K) will monitor regularly against the aforementioned activities,” it stated and sought for co-operation from all concerned.
The NSCN (Khango) also notified a total ban on selling and bursting of all types of firecrackers in and around Dimapur during the upcoming festive season with immediate effect.
It said that the decision to ban firecrackers was taken after taking serious note of harmful effects of firecrackers, including air and noise pollution and other health hazards, besides causing disturbance to students whose final examination are approaching.
Failure to abide by the directive, the NSCN (Khango) cautioned that it will initiate stern action against the defaulters.
