Suicide Prevention Week concludes in Longleng

DIMAPUR — The suicide prevention week, organised by the District Mental Health Programme, Longleng, on the theme “Changing the narrative on suicide,” which commenced on September 10, concluded on Tuesday.

According to an update, the sessions were conducted at St. Joseph School, Bautüng Higher Secondary School, Lempong School, Yingli College, and Longleng Town Baptist Church under Longleng District.

Abemo, a clinical psychologist, during the sessions raised awareness about the theme, which aims to highlight the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides.

He encouraged everyone to initiate conversations and raise awareness about suicide prevention, emphasising the need to transform perceptions from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding, and support.

During the awareness sessions, over 2,000 students and young people were educated.
