Patkai to organise choral competition for church choirs
DIMAPUR — Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) is set to host a choral competition for church choirs on September 21 at the college auditorium, to commemorate the college’s 50th anniversary (1974-2024).
The choral competition is organised in collaboration with Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), the college informed in an update.
“Patkai, with its clear understanding and appreciation of the role played by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council and Manipur Baptist Convention since its foundation, hopes to revitalise the relationship with the churches through this event, while also providing a platform to the choirs to come together, celebrate and experience the benefits of making music together,” it stated.
It went to mention that as a pioneering institution in music education since its inception, with the sacrificial contributions of late Margaret Shishak and founder and principal emeritus Rev. Dr. Tuisem A Shishak, the college regards the event as befitting the 50 years celebration, acknowledging the profound impact of its music throughout the country, particularly in the churches.
The cash prizes for the competition are INR 1, 25,000 (first), INR.1, 00000 (second), INR 75,000 (third) and INR 20,000 for best conductor.
