Ranji Trophy: Nagaland fight back to draw with Bihar

Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): Nagaland appeared to be staring at a defeat on three of the four-day Test, as they were trailing Bihar by 278 runs in the ongoing Ranji Trophy at Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima, Dimapur, but they made a spectacular turn around on the last day to draw the match.

An update from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) informed that Nagaland cricket team captain Jonathan Rongsen scored 200 runs (not out), while his teammates SS Mundhe scored 94 runs and Stuart Binny 81 runs to end the day with 444 runs for loss of four wickets.

Rongsen became the first cricketer from Nagaland and Northeast India to score a double century.

Vivek took two wickets for Bihar in the match that ended in a draw.

In the first innings, Nagaland were bowled out for just 166 runs and Bihar declared at 509 for loss of seven wickets.

Nagaland scored 324 runs (all out) in 82.5 overs in their first innings on the second day of the four-day Test against Mizoram Nagaland in the Col C K Nayudu Trophy (2019-20) at Kandukuri Cricket Academy, Vizag, on Wednesday. This was informed by NCA through an update.

Vivek scored a century (119 runs), while Nikhil scored 98 runs and Wahid 51 to help Nagaland put up a good first innings score. Meanwhile, Mizoram’s bowling attack was led by Lalruatfela with three wickets, and two wickets each from Muanzuala, Dika Ralte and Aditya.

At stumps, Mizoram were 31 for loss of a wicket in their second innings with Dhanur Sikri scoring 13 runs and Thanzuala, 12 runs. Liremo took the lone wicket for Nagaland.

Mizoram, who scored 155 in the first innings, were trailing Nagaland by 138 runs.
