22,850 houses completed under PMAY-U scheme in Nagaland
DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs constructed a total of 22,850 pucca houses with basic civic amenities under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY-U) and allotted them to the poor people in urban areas in Nagaland since June 2015 till date.
This was informed by the by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
According to the data provided by the minister, a total of 31,860 houses were sanctioned to the state, while 31,841 were grounded and 22,850 completed. Among the completed houses, 22,818 houses have been occupied.
The data also revealed that an amount of INR 503.91 crore has been approved for Nagaland state under the scheme, but till date, only INR 393.41 has been released.
In his reply, Sahu said that PMAY-U is a demand-driven scheme and Government of India has not fixed any target for construction of houses, and based on the project proposals submitted by States and UTs, as on July 22, 2024, a total of 118.64 lakh houses have been sanctioned under PMAY-U, out of which 114.33 lakh have been grounded for construction and 85.04 lakh houses completed/delivered to beneficiaries.
The sanctioned houses involve central assistance of INR 2 lakh crore (approx.) against which, INR 1.64 lakh crore has been released so far, it added.
For the northeast states, a total of 4,10,572 houses were sanctioned, 3,77,110 grounded and 2,34966 houses completed and 2,33,398 houses occupied.
The data also showed that an amount of INR 6,382.57 crore was approved and INR 4,863.31 crore released.
The scheme period, which was earlier upto March 31, 2022, has been extended upto December 31, 2024, except for Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) vertical of the scheme, to complete all the houses sanctioned without changing the funding pattern and implementation methodology.
