20 legislators from eastern Nagaland to meet central leaders
DIMAPUR — Amid the ongoing ‘public emergency’ being imposed in six districts of eastern Nagaland to protest the Centre’s failure to create Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT), legislators from the region are said to be leaving for New Delhi on Friday to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Ministry of Home Affairs officials in connection with the matter.
However, specific date for the meeting is yet to be fixed, a source informed this newspaper.
It came two days after the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) and its eight federating units asked all the 20 NLAs and Rajya Sabha MP from the eastern region, as well apex bodies to reach Tuensang headquarters by March 14 for a joint coordination meeting.
In this regard, the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) issued a notification on Thursday, informing the said meeting has been postponed to March 19, 2024 from 10 am onwards at CKS Hall Tuensang, as the members of the Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) are travelling to New Delhi.
It has asked the Rajya Sabha MP, 20 elected members of eastern region, House of 13th NLA-ENLU Chairman and Secretary, ENGOA president along with eight members, talk team, ENPO advisors and former ENPO, ENWO and ENSF presidents to attend the proposed meeting on March 19.
