11 children from Nagaland approved for PM Cares scheme

Dimapur, March 17 (EMN): About 11 children from Nagaland have been approved for the PM Cares scheme, which was announced by the prime minister to support children who have lost both parents, surviving parents, legal guardian or adoptive parents due to Covid-19.
According to the data provided, one male child (0-6 years), three male and one female (6-14 years), one male and three female (14-18 years), and one male and female child (18-23 years) have been approved for the PM Cares scheme.
Union minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani stated this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on March 16.
Irani informed that a total of 8973 applications had been uploaded in the scheme portal as on March 3, 2022, out of which 4,302 applications had been approved by the district magistrates after due process.
She further informed that the Ministry is implementing a centrally sponsored scheme called Child Protection Services (CPS) scheme –Mission Vatsalya — under which support will be provided to states and union territory governments for delivering services for children in need of care and in difficult circumstances.
Child Care Institutions (CCIs) established under the CPS scheme will support inter-alia age-appropriate education, access to vocational training, recreation, health care, counseling and others, she added.
