Kohima, Jan. 5 (EMN): Describing youth as the best period in life filled with high spirit and energy, former Rajya Sabha MP, KG Kenye, has called upon the youth of Porba village to maintain discipline and moral integrity in order to excel in whatever things they do.

Kenye stated this while addressing the 50th golden jubilee celebration of the Porbami Youth Organisation (PYO) held on Thursday at Porba village ground in Phek district on the theme “Honouring our past- creating our future.’ He described youth as the best period in life where everything is possible as they have high spirit and energy and have the potential to compete with any other beings. In this regard, he urged the youth to maintain discipline and moral integrity in order to excel in whatever things they do.

Kenye paid tribute to the pioneers and leaders for their visionary leadership. He added that PYO had contributed to the growth of the society and produced eminent personalities in the field of sports and leaders in various capacities. While pointing out the available potential and scope among the Porbami village citizens, Kenye encouraged them to tap the resources and contribute towards the development of society and nation building.

He called upon the people not to bask on their past glories but strive for progress. He also asserted on the need to upkeep the good social practices.

He further highlighted on the relationship shared by Porba village and Chizami village and stressed on the need to revive and strengthen the age-old bonds for posterity.

Kuhucuyi D Vadeo, BDO of Meluri and guest of honour, exhorted the youth to choose the right path during their prime of life to excel and achieve success. He also advised the sportspersons to develop professionalism by choosing a particular sports discipline.

The welcome address was delivered by Kuve Puro, chairman of Porba Village Council, while the presidential address was delivered by PYO president, Vezato Dzüdo and greetings was shared by Vemüdo D Vadeo, president of Centre Chakhesang Sports Association (CCSA).

Song was presented by Nüvesalü Sakhamo and ‘Boka Tha Li’ was performed by Porbami Youth Organisation. The oath taking was administered by Krosanyi Thülü-o, PYO games and sports secretary, and the programme was led by Vetho Vadeo and Huvesu Puro delivered concluding remarks.

KG Kenye also unveiled the monolith while the souvenir was released by Kühücüyi D Vadeo.
