Winter Cricket Challenge: Tungoe’s 56 helps LCYO register 101-run victory

DIMAPUR — LCYO CC and Kohima Royals registered wins on Saturday’s matches in the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge at Local Ground, Wokha.

According to an update, in the first match, GAPYO CC won the toss and elected to field first. Batting first, LCYO CC set a mammoth total of 176 runs with contributions from Renjanthung Tungoe (56), Renchio Odyuo (28) and Renben Kikon (17).

Chasing the target, Rhonchio Ngullie (22) and Santu Das (13) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as GAPYO was bundled out for 74 runs in 16.2 overs.

Renjanthung Tungoe was adjudged the Man of the Match for his 56 runs knock as the number 3 batsman. LCYO won the match with the highest winning margin of 101 in the tournament so far.

In the second match, Rising Stars won the toss and opted to bat first, setting a target of 95 runs in 20 overs. Openers Khyolamo and Abel scored 20 runs each.

For Rising Stars, Menchet scored 44 runs and Mhademo scored 34 runs as the team chased the target in 15.2 overs. Menchet was adjudged the Man of the Match.

The match scheduled for December 31 is between Elite Cricket Club Kohima and Black Hawk.
